Diponegoro University, thru the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, is once again strengthening its education internationalization program thru the UNDIP Global Classroom (UGC) activity. In this event, students of the Library Science Study Program had the opportunity to attend a guest lecture featuring an academic from Malaysia who shared insights on the development of library automation in the academic environment.
The guest lecture featured Asmadi Mohammed Ghazali from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia. This activity is part of the course on Library Automation (Automasi Pusdokinfo) conducted online.

In his lecture titled “The Development of Library Automation in Academic Libraries: Malaysian Perspectives,” Dr. Asmadi outlined the progress of automation system implementation in Malaysian academic libraries, from the implementation of library management systems, integration of digital technology, to efforts to enhance the efficiency of information services for users.

He also emphasized that the development of information technology has driven significant transformations in the management of academic libraries. Automation not only serves to facilitate the processing of collections but also plays a crucial role in expanding access to information and improving the quality of services to users.
This activity was attended by students from several classes in the Library Science Study Program. The discussion that took place after the presentation showed the students’ enthusiasm in understanding the practices and experiences of library automation management in Malaysia.
Thru the UNDIP Global Classroom activities, Diponegoro University continues to promote international academic collaboration and bring a global perspective to the learning process. This activity is expected to broaden students’ understanding of the development of information technology in the field of libraries and strengthen the academic network between Indonesia and Malaysia.
This program is one of the strategic steps in improving the quality of learning while enriching the academic experience of students by bringing in international speakers into the classroom.
