Semarang, May 6, 2026, Library and Information Science Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Diponegoro University. Has carried out community service activities for the LPDP & Kemendiktisaintek Equity Program 2025-2026 at the Taman Baca Masyarakat (TBM) Koper Pustaka in Semarang City with the theme of sustainable human resource capacity building thru reading clubs and community literacy strengthening.

This event was attended by Dr. Yuli Rohmiyati and her team, as well as several academics from Malaysia, namely Prof. Dr. Noorhidawati binti Abdullah and Dr. Ranita. The atmosphere of the event was relaxed and interactive because the participants not only listened to the presentations but also directly engaged in activities with the TBM community.

In the initial session, the background of the establishment of the TBM was introduced, along with an explanation of the philosophy behind the name “Koper Pustaka” by the Koper Pustaka manager. The name was chosen because it represents the spirit of bringing knowledge everyplace, like a suitcase accompanying a journey. In addition to the introduction about TBM, participants were also invited to engage in crafting activities with the community. In the activity, participants made various decorations and trinkets together.

After the crafting activity, it was followed by a sharing session on TBM management and an introduction to homeschooling. The discussion was quite interesting because it turned out that homeschooling and community reading gardens like those in Indonesia are not commonly found in Malaysia.

The event took place warmly and with enthusiasm from all participants. The interactions that took place during the event showed that literacy is not only related to reading but also serves as a means to build collaboration, creativity, and community empowerment.
