FIB UNDIP – The Library and Information Science Study Program, Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Diponegoro (FIB Undip), in collaboration with the Blora Regency Library, organized the program “Innovation in Bibliotherapy Services through the Holistic Reading Method at the Blora Regency Library” on 16–17 September 2026. The program aimed to introduce the application of bibliotherapy and the Holistic Reading method as an innovative approach to library services.

The program was coordinated by Dr. Yuli Rohmiyati, S.Sos., M.Si., together with Ika Krismayani, S.IP., M.IP. and Ika Nur Azizah, S.Hum., M.A., with support from students of the Library and Information Science Study Program. The program consisted of two main activities. On 16 September, the program began with an introduction to bibliotherapy delivered by Ika Nur Azizah, S.Hum., M.A., followed by an introduction to the Holistic Reading method presented by Dr. Yuli Rohmiyati, S.Sos., M.Si. and Ika Krismayani, S.IP., M.IP. The session was attended by librarians from the Blora Regency Library and Archives Service, as well as library staff from elementary and junior high schools in Blora District.

The following day, on 17 September, the program continued with a practical session on implementing Holistic Reading with eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 6 Blora. The activity began with an introduction to the Holistic Reading method, after which the students were guided to search for information in the library based on topics of their choice. Each group was accompanied by a lecturer or student from Universitas Diponegoro who guided the students throughout the activity. After obtaining the information they needed, the students participated in group silent reading, reading independently and focusing on their selected materials. The activity continued with group presentations, in which the students shared what they had learned and understood from the reading process, including their interpretation and reflection on the information they had obtained. Through this series of activities, the students were not only encouraged to find and understand information but also to connect their reading with their own understanding and experiences.

This collaboration represents part of the Library and Information Science Study Program’s efforts at FIB Undip to promote innovative library services that are more responsive to users’ needs. Through bibliotherapy and Holistic Reading, libraries can be developed as spaces that provide more meaningful and reflective reading experiences.
